TERM DATES 2018
WHAT IS TRIBAL BELLYDANCE?
Tribal Bellydance is a modern form of Bellydance drawing on a range of traditional, classical and folkloric dances from across the middle east.
Tribal Bellydance is strongly influenced by American cabaret and traditional Egyptian bellydance and fuses other dance elements from all over the world such as classical Indian and Flamenco, among others.
In the Entwined format, Tribal Style or Tribal Bellydance incorporates elements of American Tribal Style (ATS), an improvised format of movement danced in a group, and Tribal Fusion, bellydance with a contemporary modern twist strongly nodding American cabaret style, with foundations in fundamental bellydance technique.
In our tribal bellydance classes we use yoga and pilates style warm ups to build strength and flexibility in the body necessary to successfully achieve this dance style, drill Tribal Bellydance movements and combinations and integrate music from around the world and across the eras to create a fun and inspiring soundtrack for your learning and development!
Laura's approach brings together 13 years of devotional study of all styles of Bellydance, 20 years of yoga study and practice and 5 years delivering successful weekly classes in Melbourne. She provides a modern, holistic and thoroughly knowledgeable interpretation of this dance form, with a focus on innovation, technique and experimentation, as well as honouring the roots of the dance.
