We collaborate with Melbourne's Premier Middle Eastern Dance Company, Melbourne Bellydance to provide a pathway for your dancing education that includes cultural immersion and different genres of Bellydance.
Learn the fundamentals of Belly Dance, such as isolations, pops, drops, circles, shimmies, hip flicks, hip drops, belly rolls, figure 8's, snake arms and Egyptian walk as well as short combinations to string the movements together. Pitched at a beginner level, Intermediate students are also invited to attend to work on the more complex versions of these movements including speed and layering.
Receive an introduction to choreography and using props (silk veils, fan veils, Isis wings, canes, swords and zills). Gain greater insight into different belly dance genres including both Modern (oriental) and Traditional (folkloric) styles. Recommended for dancers with 6-12 months of Bellydance training.
Develop strength and confidence in advanced movements, props, challenging choreography, musicality and improvisation. Master the broad array of belly dance genres such as classical Baladi, Danse Orientale, Folkloric Egyptian and Gulf styles and get to work with live musicians and guest instructors. Recommended for dancers with a minimum of 2 years Bellydance training.
Learn the fundamentals and foundations of tribal style and tribal fusion, an innovative modern bellydance style. Explore and learn the differences between traditional and tribal bellydance style and aesthetics, such as posture, carriage, alignment, movements and techniques. Each class will use yoga and pilates style warm ups to build strength and flexibility in the body necessary to successfully achieve this dance style, and drill fundamental core tribal bellydance movements and basic combinations. Suited for Beginner - Intermediate level.
